Can't save (download) video clip

Hi. I have a 7608NI-I2 NVR running V4.40.015 build 200616.
If I try to save some footage, I get "downloading failed" message.
On the playback screen, if I click on the scissor icon I get "Failed to clip" message.

My system is set up as Plug and Play. I am also trying to complete these tasks using IE browser and was hoping to download the clip direct to my laptop (i.e. I don't have an external USB stick/harddrive connected to the NVR. I have not yet tried to do this directly using the NVR (awkward location).

Am I doing something wrong or not enabled something in the NVR's settings?

Run Internet Explorer as an administrator

Hi Phil, thanks a lot for your reply. I can now download files, but I'm having difficulty playing them.
I downloaded a 2 minute file from 05:11:00 until 05:13:00.
When I try to view file using VLC, the total run time shows as 7hs 3mins 27secs.
The start time constantly flips between 00:00 and 47:43.
There is no video footage except for a single screen frame, showing 05:07:25 (i.e. not even from my 05:11:00-05:13:00 time frame).
The file size is 0.99GB
VLC is the latest version.

Do you know what problem I'm facing now?

Hi Gliders, depending on the codec used VLC can have issues with it. its best to use the Hikvision player which is called VSPlayer. You can download from the Hikvision uk portal. The portal is one and the same that hikvision uploads their cameras firmware downloads to.
