Water dispersant coatings for lenses and dome glass (eg Rain-x)

Thanks Phil - I think I'll give it a try to help reduce the number of climbs of a ladder trying to keep it clean.

Water dispersant coatings for lenses and dome glass (eg Rain-x)

I can't really find a definitive answer anywhere on this one. I have a dome on an old building that gets a bit of splash back when the rain is heavy from the ancient stonework, which when the water dries gives it a cloudy effect at night. It's not the most accessible dome, so it's not easy to...

Reolink POE system, what’s your thoughts?

You can go wide with 2.8mm - see lots from one camera - but as you try to zoom in for detail, things that are still fairly close in real physical distance may not have the detail you want. 4mm is a little narrower, see a little more detail, but less in view. There are then varifocal cameras that...

Reolink POE system, what’s your thoughts?

Before you order - do you have the tech skills and knowledge to set the system up? Or know someone with appropriate knowledge? As much as I listed part numbers that suit your budget - they may not necessarily be the right cameras for your location. For example - the cameras I mentioned come...

Reolink POE system, what’s your thoughts?

With cameras you do get what you pay for - Reolink is a budget brand designed for the domestic market - and can be found prominently in places like Amazon. If something goes bang - it has to be replaced with another Reolink part. If you go for something like Hikvision - cameras can be sourced...

Do you have power available at the bottom of the garden? If so - over a 100ft is certainly doable with a bridge....

Help for newbie - adding more cameras to my Hikvision DVR?

Probably get the installer back in to see what cameras he recommends to maximise the quality you can achieve with what you have. If you already have the NVR I wouldn't be bothering with nest cameras or anything like that - I'd keep it all in one place.

Help for newbie - adding more cameras to my Hikvision DVR?

You may find that the first two cameras were max'd out on quality and FPS - and that adding another two cameras will mean you'll have to downgrade their settings to accommodate the new ones It's a bit like a pint of milk holds a pint of milk - equivalent to how many resources your NVR has. Two...

Help for newbie - adding more cameras to my Hikvision DVR?

Ok - so your unit utilises BNC connections - so any new camera will need to have its own power supply and a BNC cable running to it. You can use network cable and baluns instead of traditional BNC cables which will make things easier - but you'll need to work out what cameras are connected - and...

Help for newbie - adding more cameras to my Hikvision DVR?

Help for newbie - adding more cameras to my Hikvision DVR?

£800 doesn't sound too bad for 2 cameras and an NVR if the spec was decent. Hard to answer your question without knowing what you have. If you have a POE system - you'll need POE cameras - how good are you at building network cables to the length you'll need? Have you got the tools? Lots of...

Poe cctv - adding a camera at the end of my garden?

How far is 'a bit away'? If the budget was available - you could have a POE powered switch at one end connected to a wireless bridge - which then connected to the other end of the wireless bridge - and then to your NVR...
