What is the best cable to connect my NVR and router? Cat5e or Cat6?

I've ordered a cat5e cable, as soon as it arrives I will remove the powerline plugs and plug the NVR in direct, fingers crossed it solves the problem.

The black plug is for the router and the other TP link upstairs is plugged into a socket next to an extension lead with the nvr/printer/desktop plugged in.

I think they are connected to the same electrical switch box, one plug in the living room and one in the bedroom, only about 10 metres away from each other

My laptop doesn't have an ethernet plug, the powerlines are plugged into normal sockets, when I playback using the monitor attached to the NVR everything is fine.

The lights on the powerline plugs have never gone red but they both used to show 3 solid green lights, the past few months the one connected to the router has a flashing green light in the middle, I've tried resetting them but the middle light still flashes.

I'm starting to think it's a network issue I have as playback on all codecs with high frame rates is playing back fine on the monitor attached to the NVR. So I'm now looking at my TP link powerline and broadband speed. Could be either?

I've noticed the frame rate is jumping from 19fps, 20fps, 21fps

Is that the same as on Hikconnect?

Thanks David I will try that later. How do I find the fps and resolution on main stream?

Could it be caused by permanently having a monitor turned on and connected to the NVR?

I think since install, but I initially thought it was the NVR firmware update which was the causing green screen but the green screen has been solved I'm left with 'no more connections allowed on this device' and slow jumpy playback (mainly on Hikconnect)

Many thanks. I will have a play around with the wires/extenders over the weekend. The cables were installed by a company 3 years ago, they made the cables themselves. When I view live substream on Hikconnect it's totally smooth, it's only on smart event playback and live view it jumps.

Playback is slightly smoother on the NVR compared to Hikconnect, there is still the odd shutter but no where near as bad as Hikconnect. It has two 8TB hardrives installed, unfortunately I don't know the make/model. Would the TP Link extender I have attached to the router cause issues like...

Playback is jumpy both on NVR playback with a monitor and also Hikconnect, I've rebooted the NVR, it's made no difference.
